Pukarua Bay House

Location: Kapiti Coast
Area: 180sq.m
Year of project: 2000
Completion: 2002

Designed as a two-person dwelling, all primary living has been elevated to the second level. For this Kapiti home going up has the benefit of both capturing stunning coastal views and establishing a sense of tree top living amongst the old pohutakawa forest the site is set within.

Despite the modest scale of this home, spaciousness is created by a double story concrete atrium which acts as both a pass way between spaces and a gallery for the client’s art collection.

Matt corrugated aluminium was selected for the cladding to create a singular textural finish and it provided a low cost, low maintenance material to meet the project’s modest budget. Photo Credit Adam Muir
